International women’s day is an annual global day celebrating women’s incredible achievements and contributions from all works of life. It is a day when women are celebrated for courageously fighting for equality, justice, and opportunity for women and girls worldwide.
The first march for women was initiated in the early 90s in the United States when 15,000 women campaigned for change against the harsh working conditions and voting rights. In 1909 the following year, the first National women’s day was established, and it was later celebrated in other parts of the world and became known as international women’s day in 1911.
On this day, March 8 2023, we celebrate women who have, in one way or another, shaped history, contributed to the culture and improved society. We celebrate women all around the world, without regard to division, be it cultural, ethnic or otherwise.
